4 Things To Do While Practising Social Distancing

How I'm Keeping The Boredom At Bay

A month ago only a few of us had heard of the term ‘Social Distancing’ but now we hear it everywhere. As the world tries to come to terms with the Coronavirus Pandemic I thought I would share with you some things I have been doing to keep myself busy and active in this very bizarre time.


Each morning I try and start my day with some Yoga, if you have access to Youtube, I highly recommend Yoga With Adriene, her videos are easy to follow along with and she has a sequence for absolutely everything. I find that by starting my day with Yoga, I feel more prepared for the day. Yoga is a fantastic form of exercise that strengthens the muscles, works on posture, improves flexibility and helps to ground your thoughts, and, you can do it from the comfort of your own home, alone or with loved ones. 

Get Creative and Learn New Skills

With so much downtime at the moment it can be consuming when you feel like you don’t know what to do with all your excess time. However, it’s a great opportunity to learn some new skills or go back to your roots and invest in the things that used to make you happy before ‘work life’ came along and took over. I have been enjoying the opportunity to invest my time into my passions and learn new skills, e.g. this blog, I missed it and was either too busy or too burnt-out to give my time to it, now I have all the time to create and love it again, I have been trying to learn more about photography and image editing. If you’re stuck with things to do, why not join the rainbow campaign by painting, drawing, recycling old packets to create a rainbow to share hope and positivity and help to keep everyone smiling. Another great opportunity to take advantage of, is all the free online courses being offered; Open Learn, Future Learn as well as local colleges are worth checking out. 

Tik Tok

I have become somewhat obessed with Tik Tok the past few days. Creating a ‘Tiktok’ is a great way of passing the time, having fun and embracing your inner child again. There are all sorts of videos on the site from dancing, to pranks, to cosplay; the videos are short and sweet and recorded straight from the app with it’s own in built filters, sounds and creative editing opportunities. Daily Walk

When you’re couped up inside all day everyday, the best thing you can do is get outside and get some fresh air! It does wonders for stress and anxiety to be able to leave it all behind for a short period of time and explore your local neighbourhood. I have lived in my area since January, however I used to attend college in the area and know the city pretty well, but until this week I had never gone down the canals, and now I make it so each day I go for a walk along them and try to take a new direction each day. Away from the bubbling city centre the walks are fairly quite, with lots of greenery and sound of the water escaping the locks can make you feel like you are further away from home than you actually are (especially in the nice warm weather).
