Adult colouring books have really blown up these past few years and what started as a little creative outlet for me is now an obsession. I cannot tell you how many colouring books I have, I can’t just stick with one, I love to mix and match and have them all on the go at the same time. I can’t help but browse the magazine section looking for a new book, and when I get a new book, well I also need new stationary to use in the book.
I love stationary as much as I love makeup, it makes me so happy finding pretty pen’s or cute notebooks, I have more stationary than I need/use but I always find myself buying more. I have so many notebooks just laying around waiting to be written in, but maybe one day I’ll need that notebook for something important? As for pen’s well you can never have enough pen’s, you blink and they seem to disappear into the void, along with bobby pins and hair tie’s.
My favourite of my adult colouring books at the moment has got to be the Princess book, the majority of the book is Alice in Wonderland with a few other favourite Disney princesses including Tiana (Princess and the frog) and Little Red Riding Hood. I also have a Winter Edition book which I dig out in the winter months; which is full of baubles and presents and snow covered tree’s.
I love lighting a candle, turning on the fairy light’s, opening up Relax Melodies, choosing my colouring book for the evening, tipping all my sharpie’s and felt tips out on to my duvet and having a lovely chilled evening, I find this really helps for the night’s that my anxiety is high and I’m struggling to sleep too followed by a headspace session which sends me off like a light. I find it just helps me to empty my mind and not think about what ever is keeping me awake.
This is my most recent purchase, full of mandala’s, flowers, pattern’s fish and animals. I’ve started on the first design in this book which is of a beautiful, intricately designed butterfly.
Zen Colouring – Winter Collection
Zen Colouring bring out a new Winter Edition magazine, each winter, mine is the 2016 edition and has lasted me two winter’s. I’ve started (but not yet completed) 4 design’s as I like to have lots on the go at once and there’s also Christmas designs which I colour up until Christmas before going back to the Winter-y designs.
The Menagarie was the entrance into adult colouring books for me. This one my mum bought for me back in 2015, along with a pencil case packed with crayon’s (the pencil kind), stabilo thin line pen’s and Berol thin line felt-tips. This book is full of beautiful intricate animal design’s with perforated paper so you can display them when you’ve finished.
Colouring Heaven have all of the magical and mythical creature magazine’s from mermaids (which I want) to woodland fantasy. Woodland fantasy is full of woodland animals, unicorns, nymph’s and faerie’s (fairies), I love faerie’s they’re my favourite (onland) mythical creature’s with Mermaids being my favourite (offland) mythical creature’s, and I say ‘mythical’ lightly as I believe they do exist, they’re just very good at hiding. I actually have a lovely friend called Laura (twistedtwinkle) who is now a fully qualified mermaid and I am beyond jealous as well as super proud of her.
My favourite book of the moment, Fairytale (or Princesses as I think of it) is full of re-imagined classics, in the style of anime.
Do you have an adult colouring books collection? Which is your favourite?
