Altruist Dermatologist Sunscreen #HowMuchIsEnough

Only a few weeks ago was I moaning about the freezing temperatures here in England, this week paints a different story of beautiful blue skies and warm sunny days. I live for this beautiful weather, I instantly feel better about everything and spend as much time as I possibly can outside, like today, as I sit tapping away at my keyboard in my garden. It’s also important to remember when the weather is warm and luxurious it also comes with dangers, from swimming in lakes and rivers to the dreaded red lobster skin of sunburn.

Sunburn or suntan is caused by the sun’s rays; UVA ray’s penetrate the Skin’s dermis (the thickest layer) causing premature skin aging and wrinkling where as UVB ray’s ‘burn’ the epidermis (top layer’s) of our skin causing sunburn/suntan. Altruist have formulated a new kind of sun protection that you needn’t have to break the bank over, there mission; To reduce the incidence of skin cancer through the increased use of quality sunscreen together with a better education and awareness. Conceived by a UK skin cancer specialist and top European scientists to provide premium quality sunscreen at an affordable price.

The Altruist sunscreen* is available in two formulations, Spray and Cream and in two Sun Protection Factors (SPF) 30 & 50. The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is how long a sunscreen will protect you from the sun’s UVB rays. So in my case I chose the SPF 30 meaning I get 30 minute’s of protection before I need to reapply which is perfect for me.

How Much Is Enough?

I know from my time working outdoors everyday at a theme park I could ‘feel’ myself burning even after applying sun protection, so how much should I be applying? The recommendation is one teaspoon for the face and one shot glass for the body or as close to those recommendations as you can, and remember SLIP on a t-shirt SLAP on a hat SLOP on the sunscreen and seek shade at peak times 11am-4pm BST.

The Altruist dermatologist sunscreen spray applies like a mist, is fragrance free, non-sticky and sheer, absorbing instantly leaving behind a healthy glow to the skin without being a slick greasy mess. It’s also water resistant so if you did want to splash about in a safe water environment for a few moment’s you can as well as offering high UVA/UVB protection. The Altruist Dermatologist Sunscreen Protection is exclusively available at Amazon
