We’re in April! We’ve made it a quarter way through 2018 and as you read this it’s my 25th birthday. So when I received an email from the lovely Rhiannon regarding testing out a new toothpaste, that whitens your teeth I did a little squeal of joy. Firstly because it’s my first blog email, how exciting, and secondly hopefully it means I’ll have lovely white teeth for my birthday.
Janina are a new brand to me, my usual teeth whitening brand is White Glo having used several of their products, however the Janina Ultra White 24K Gold Toothpaste* sounded exciting, a gold toothpaste! Plus they have two awards under their belt the Pure Beauty Awards 2016 Highly Commended Winner for Best New Dental Product with their Ultra White Advanced Charcoal Toothpaste and the Pure Beauty Awards 2017 Bronze Winner for Best New Oral Beauty Product with the Ultra White Charcoal & Clay Teeth Whitening Powder.
My package arrived super quick in the post and I was shocked to see that not only had I received the toothpaste but there inside the bag was also the Ultra White Pre-Filled Whitening Trays. With three weeks away from my birthday and to get a full evaluation of each product I decided to trial the toothpaste for 2 weeks and then the week before my birthday try out the whitening trays. Now as I mentioned above I have used whitening products previously however not for a few months and definitely not during this year; there is some slight yellowing on my teeth and in-particular one tooth has a darker section where it slightly over laps, something that became more noticable with the White Glo Diamond Series Advanced Whitening I used last October as the product didnt get into that small little gap. So I wanted to see how these two products stood up against my trusty White Glo products.
‘Janina Ultra White 24K Gold Whitening Toothpaste is a unique formulation which contains the most active ingredients for good oral hygiene and the WHITENING PATENTED Bromaine Complex, a combination of natural enzymes (Bromelaine from Pineapple and Papain from Papaya), to whiten teeth without harsh abrasives. Janina Ultra White 24K Gold Whitening Toothpaste contains Colloidal Gold which consists of gold particles suspended in solution, helps prevent decay, controls plaque and provides gum protection.’

OK, so this toothpaste sounds right up my street, I’m an avid coffee drinker and who doesn’t want whiter teeth and healthy gums?
The Janina Ultra White 24K Gold Whitening Toothpaste is one of the prettiest toothpaste’s I’ve ever used, it has little specs of gold particles throughout the gel paste, it’s minty without being over powering and leaves your mouth and your teeth feeling super clean. The texture as I mentioned is a Gel/Liquid formulation, so not as thick, foamy or messy as for example, using Colgate Total Original Care or White Glo Professional Choice Whitening Toothpaste which are paste formulations.
I have now been using the Janina toothpaste for 3 weeks, and I can honestly say my teeth do look whiter and brighter, and the dark section I had has most definitely lifted. It’s such a pleasure to brush my teeth and look forward to it morning and night, my teeth and my mouth feel super clean and fresh. I do feel like it’s lifted some of the yellowish staining on my teeth, disclaimer: there’s no ‘oh wow you’re teeth are blinding white’ changes, but then again we’re not going all out and bleaching the teeth we’re simply using a formulation toothpaste to brighten and whiten whilst keeping our teeth and gums healthy.
To compare to my much loved White Glo toothpaste, they are very similar products and set out to achieve the same results ‘whiter teeth’ however Janina is a gel/liquid formula, meaning it is much less abrasive than the White Glo which is a paste formulation which is thicker, I do feel they offer the same results with Janina coming out higher as I do feel personally White Glo works best as a combination product along side other whitening products and Janina can easily be used as a stand alone whitening toothpaste. In regards to pricing, White Glo is much cheaper with the toothpaste retailing at £4.20 (inc, specialised toothbrush) and Janina retailing at £12.67, you can find both brands at Boots. Overall I loved using the Janina Ultra White 24K Gold Whitening Toothpaste and look forward to seeing what new products are to come from the brand.
Have you tried any Janina products?
