It’s officially Spring, even though the UK is currently awaiting the Beast from the East Part 3 (if certain news articles are to be believed), so to celebrate the Spring Equinox, the warmer weather and longer days I wanted to create a fresh, dewy, English rose look using only drugstore products.
You may have seen this look over on my Instagram, and it went down really well which I’m so thankful for so thought I would share with you the products I used and exactly how I did it.
- Foundation: Marcelle BB Cream
- Concealer: Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer – Shade C2
- Contour: Maybelline Master Sculpt Contour Palette – Shade Light/Medium
- Blush: Benefit Galifornia Blush
- Highlight: Soph X Makeup Revolution Highlight Palette – Shade Pink
As the months are warming up I tend to step away from liquid foundations, focusing more on BB Creams or Powder foundations. The BB Cream I used for this look is one I received in a Birchbox and have really loved wearing, however a cheaper alternative and another fave BB Cream of mine is from Bourjous. I apply BB Creams in the same way I would with a foundation I dot it on my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin, blending it out with a damp real techniques complexion sponge. For concealing under my eyes of course I reached for my latest addition from Makeup Revolution again blending that in with the damp sponge. For contour I used my trusty Contour Palette from Maybelline and with a spectrum collection tapered brush applied the contour shade under my cheek bones, along the forehead, down the sides of my nose and my jawline making sure to blend each area in, because I’m terrible for getting into work and realising that tired 5am Emma hasn’t blended enough and now has streaks. For blusher I dug out last year’s fave the Benefit Galifornia which is a beautiful summery pink and topped that with the pink highlight shade from the Soph X Makeup Revolution Palette.
- Brows: L’Oreal Paradise Extatic Brow Pomade – Shade Brunette
- Shadow: Soph X Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette – Shades Tiramisu, Peaches, Strawberry Sweets, Danger
- Mascara: L’Oreal Paradise Mascara
On to eye’s the place I like to get a little experimental in my makeup; however for this Spring Inspired English Rose look I wanted to keep it simple but effective. I always like to start with shadow first, then brows and finally mascara, does that make me weird? Using the real techniques eye shade and blend brushes I took Tiramisu from the Soph X Makeup Revolution Eye Shadow Palette as as transition base colour in the crease, then added a little bit of Strawberry Sweets to define the crease and Danger on the outer corner, to create a gradient of colour getting darker towards the outer corner of the lid, and then mirroring that on the lower lash line. I then took Peaches all over the lid blending that into the crease using the original transition shade. For Brows I used my trusty Brow Pomade from L’Oreal outlining my brows first before filling them in. To finish off the eye’s, Mascara, I curl my lashes using the tweezerman curlers and then applied my all time fave L’Oreal Mascara, which lengthens, separates and holds a curl whilst still looking natural and retaining flexibility.
Of course it was going to be a Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick because I just can’t get enough of them, this one is a stunning nude pink which goes with everything.
Hmm, now, time for a Spring Profile Pic update?
