W7 Cosmetics have recently released their new On The Rocks eyeshadow palette which is full of beautiful cool toned shades; which I am currently obsessed with. On The Rocks (Neutrals On Ice) is the latest dupe release from W7 following the success of sister palette, Delicious (Natural & Berry). Both palettes show a striking resemblance to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance and Subculture Palettes however the price point is notable a lot more affordable. If you would to read more about the Delicious Palette I reviewed it >>HERE<<
On The Rocks consists of 14 beautiful Matte and Shimmer Shades all of which are aptly named after cocktails:
- Sugar Rim – Duo Chrome Opalescent Pink
- Moscato – Matte Nude
- Martini Olive – Deep Peridot
- Espresso Martini – Metallic Coffee
- Maraschino Cherry – Soft Burgundy
- Cheers – Neutral Grey
- Caracao – Deep Teal
- Body Shot – Pretty Peach
- Champagne Toast – Statement Gold Metallic
- Bloody Mary – Deep Tan
- Bellini – Fiery Yellow Orange
- Magnum – Green Pine
- Pina Colada – Nutty Mustard
- Last Call – Deep Purple
The shimmer shades have the best pigmentation out of the palette, followed by the darker mattes and the light matte shades are the least pigmented with Moscato being barely visable on my skintone. The matte shades are a bit chalky, I did get fallout in the pan however I didnt get any falldown during application to my eyelids, which is always a bonus if like me you do your base first and then your eye makeup. The shades blend out like a dream and are buildable. My fave shades are: Espresso Martini, Maraschino Cherry and Caracao; Least Favourite Shades: Moscato, Cheers, Pina Colada; Most Surprising Shade: Sugar Rim, it looks like a generic white in the pan but when swatched magic happens and the pink pearlescent shift really shines through.
The packaging is pretty basic, hardbacked cardboard, Blue exterior with Gold Lettering, internally it has a mirror and double ended brush for on the go. It’s not the most travel-friendly palette, it is rather chunky but it has some beautiful shades for creating cooler looks.
This makeup look was kind of a… lets play and see what happens. I used Martini Olive as a transition shade in the crease, I then deepened that with Magnum and brought it down onto the lower lash line, blending it out to a more subtle barely there look. Over the entire lid I applied Champagne Toast and finally adding Caracao to the outer corner to add a little more depth and definition. I actually love how it turned out, it could of been an absolute disaster but I’m really chuffed with the final look. I wore it with a nude liquid Lipstick by Maybelline.
