The winter weather wreaks havoc on my lips, they become dried out, sore and chapped. So I thought I would share with you some tips on how to keep your lips soft and kissable even when the weather is against us.
Just like our skin our lips need to be exfoliated and a really easy way of doing this is by using sugar scrubs. I’ve seen people recommend using a dry toothbrush to buff away dry skin but I personally found it to make the lips sore and feel more dried out than how I began. A simple and easy to make scrub is adding nourishing honey with your every day granulated sugar, mix together and then coat your lips, buffing away any dry skin and leaving your lips feeling much softer and smoother. Or if you’re feeling extra lazy (which is what I do sometimes when I’ve ran out of my homemade sugar scrub) is just dipping your finger into your sugar pot and just running it across the lips for an instant exfolitation.
Finally moisturise, just like our skin our lips become dried out and chapped due to dehydration especially in the cooler months. I religiously reach for a tube or pot of carmex which ever I have nearby at the time, and I keep them everywhere, in my car, in my handbag, in my makeup bag there is always one close by.
I exfoliate and moisturise my lips morning and night like you would your skin, I usually do this after my skincare as part of my routine. It leaves the lips feeling much softer and smoother, and makes for a better base to work with when applying lip products.
